We are excited to announce that the new football pitches here at New Covent Garden Market will be officially opening on Saturday 22 September 2019. Come along from 10am to 4pm to celebrate with us.
These football pitches are a new sports facility for our neighbours and we can’t wait to share them with everyone/ This will be a permanent benefit to the community providing direct access to high-quality sports facilities on your doorstep.
We have partnered with Covent Garden Market Authority and Powerleague to deliver these 5-a-side pitches and one 7-a-side pitch in an extraordinary and innovative setting, sitting above the market’s new Recycling Centre.
A Community Use Agreement ensures those in our neighbouring communities can enjoy the benefits of these pitches on every single day of the week, free of charge.
The opening will be a day for everyone to come together – families, community groups and leaders – to celebrate, have fun and play football.

Timings
10am – Coaching sessions start
12pm – Freestyle show by Mo Omar and lessons
1pm – Bubble football etc and Skills Arena trials start
2pm – Speeches/words from sponsors and dignitaries
4pm – Goody bags available for kids and Launch Day closes
